Pattaya International Film Festival — free screenings 22–30 August, red carpet on the 28th

From 22 to 30 August 2026 Pattaya turns into a film city. The Pattaya International Film Festival runs under the theme "The Cinematic Wave", with free screenings for the public and tourists at cinemas in Central Pattaya across all nine days.

What is on

  • The opening ceremony, red carpet and awards — Friday 28 August from 6pm at Colosseum Show Pattaya, livestreamed on MONOMAX's Facebook page.
  • More than 70 awards for filmmakers, content creators and industry professionals, including the Pattaya Top Talk About Content Award.
  • Director discussions, industry workshops, a short-film competition, film exhibitions, a Behind The Scenes production showcase, and outdoor screenings.

Why a property site is telling you about a film festival

Because of what it says about where the city is trying to go. The festival is explicitly tied to Pattaya's ambition to be named a UNESCO Creative City of Film — the same push behind the sports and entertainment plans in the EEC. A city investing in a creative economy, and in things residents can attend for free with their families, is a different proposition from the Pattaya of the postcards.

Whether that reshapes property demand is a ten-year question, not a this-year one. But if you are weighing whether this is a place to actually live rather than just to own a unit, a week of free cinema in walking distance is a reasonable data point. Go and see something.
